The Valley YMCA facility, located in Ansonia, Conn., serves the Connecticut communities of Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour and Shelton. The local YMCA has served the Valley community since 1866. The facility features a six-lane, 25-yard swimming pool with a handicap lift, racquetball courts, gymnasium with six basketball hoops and separate locker rooms, with sauna and shower facilities, for boys and girls. The Valley YMCA also provides a fitness center that has more than 10 Life Fitness Strength Training machines, a free weight area, Smith machine, cable crossover station, leg press and a cardiovascular area, which features six treadmills, three stepping machines, four lifecycles and four cross-trainers. In addition, the Valley YMCA has before and after school programs for children aged 5-12, and nearly 30 resident rooms.
