Wyotana ranches are nestled deep in the heart of the Valley of Chiefs - the Absaraka region that stretches from Montana down into Northern Wyoming. The area, valuable to both Native Americans and settlers of the time, was a region of great dispute and wars raged on. Eventually, peace was obtained and an agreement reached between Indian and non-Indian to preserve and honor the richness and possibilities of the land. This scenic area, surrounded by mountains from which gush crystal clear streams, has everything and more to sustain a ranching economy for cattle, native buffalo, horses, and even dudes. Nowhere else do you find such a variety of recreational opportunities tied to the ranching industry in a land of such beauty that attracts everyone who sees it. This is the land of Wyotana - where the finest animals produce only the best meats. What is beefalo? Beefalo is a cross breed of buffalo and domestic cattle. The buffalo influence in the beefalo can range from 17 - 37.5% (3/8). A "full blood" beefalo have 3/8 buffalo genetics. Crossbred cattle with more than that are classified as a "buffalo hybrid." In a study conducted by the USDA, beefalo meet was found to be lower in both fat and cholesterol. Additionally, the World Beefalo Association found that beefalo were better able to tolerate cold and in need of less assistance during calving. Beefalo also have the docile nature of domestic cattle. Tests conducted by the USDA have shown Beefalo's superior protien efficiency as well. While it has more protein than beef, beefalo has fewer calories and significantly lower levels of both total fats and saturated fats. For more information, see our Nutrition Section.
