The potato farm s founder moved to Winnemucca in the 1960s in search of a superior area to grow potatoes that would be closer to West Coast markets. Over the years Winnemucca Farms has grown into one of Nevada's largest integrated farming operations. The potato farm s parent company, US Foods, currently cultivates 20,000 acres of fresh produce near Winnemucca, Nev. The farm s onsite potato processing plant is an all-natural operation that uses no preservatives or chemicals that can leave unappetizing aftertastes. This accounts for the superior fresh taste in Winnemucca Farms potatoes.
