The West Side Merchants and Civic Association is comprised of over 100 area business and professional members and growing. Membership is not limited to businesses or professionals located on the West Side of Youngstown. Annual cost for membership is a mere $10.00. Being a civic organization, much of the revenue generated is donated to local charities including but not limited to Rescue Mission, Second Harvest Food Bank, St. Vincent DePaul, Salvation Army, Send a Kid to Camp, Shop With A Cop, Youngstown and Austintown Fire and Police Lodges. Furthermore, two area high school seniors are awarded scholarships for continuing education at Youngstown State University annually. The organization works currently with 4th Ward Councilperson Michael Ray to regularly participate in cleaning up the West Side main corridor into the downtown business district. It is important to know that West Side Merchants and Civic Association is a not for profit organization whose day to day operation is governed by the laws of the State of Ohio yet not owned by the State of Ohio. The employees of West Side Merchants and Civic Association are not employees of the State of Ohio. The money you spend with West Side Merchants stays in the community and currently supports 10 local jobs!
