The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is governed by the Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). The program helps to combat childhood obesity by helping children learn healthful eating habits. It works in a partnership with the Institute of Medicine (IOM) to provide healthier snack choices in schools. The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is authorized by the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002. The program has partnerships with the Produce for Better Health Foundation, United Fresh Produce Association, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
