Established in 1963, Upper Allen Elementary is a learning center that is governed by the Mechanicsburg Area School District. The school serves students in grades three through five. It provides the English as a Second Language program. The school s academic curriculum includes Spanish, language arts and math. It conducts classes in art, vocal music and physical education, as well as supports extracurricular activities, such as band and string instrument playing. Upper Allen Elementary s staff includes a speech and language therapist, guidance counselor, librarian, nurse, and reading and behavior support aides. The school also offers the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. It operates a parent-teacher organization that raises funds to support enrichment and social events and activities. Located in Mechanicsburg, Pa., Upper Allen Elementary organizes several fall festivals and book fairs.
