Tri-County Electric Cooperative, also known as TEC, is a member-owned distribution agency that serves Winona, Houston, Fillmore, Olmsted and Mower counties in Minnesota, as well as Howard, Winneshiek and Allamakee counties in Iowa. Founded in 1936, the cooperative offers electric energy to more than 12,800 services in southeastern Minnesota. Tri-County Electric Cooperative provides a variety of radiant floor heating systems, heat pumps, water heaters, surge protectors, standby generators, and electric grills and boilers. It oversees a staff of over 50 employees and maintains 24-hour operations. The cooperative provides gift certificates in several denominations. It works alliance with Dairyland Power Cooperative, which is a wholesale electric power supplier. In addition, Tri-County Electric Cooperative offers security lighting, cable locating, structure moving, line extension and energy audit services.
