At the Tom C. Maynor Rehabilitation Center, we are dedicated to treating the whole patient — physically, emotionally and socially — and provide a wide range of therapy services to help our patients return to their highest level of functioning and independence.
We have created a team of highly trained professionals to deal with every aspect of the patient's treatment and recovery. The team, headed by our medical director, includes rehabilitation nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, and social workers. They all work together to develop goals and coordinate and plan patient care.
Family members are also an integral part of the rehabilitation team. They are encouraged to assist in goal setting, participate in the care of the patient and attend scheduled therapy treatment sessions with the patient. The family is educated on the patient's limitations and strengths and how to help the patient continue functional improvements at home. But the most important member of the team is the patient, and success depends on his or her commitment to the goals.
By providing a supportive, caring environment and emphasizing a patient’s abilities, rather than disabilities, we strive to help instill in patients the confidence and skills needed to achieve their maximum level of functional independent and to regain the lives they treasure. As an acute rehabilitation unit, we set high standards for quality healthcare services through individualized treatment and a multi-disciplinary, team approach. Our rehabilitation team has a daily commitment to our values of heritage, healing and improving life.
Our patients are those who require early, intensive therapies for optimal recovery, and include those with stroke damage, neurological disorders, amputations and major multiple trauma. We are successful in helping people with a variety of functional disorders relearn old skills that have been hindered as well as learn new, adaptive techniques.
Our comprehensive program features a full complement of aggressive, in-patient rehabilitation services tailored to each patient based on his or her needs, tolerance for therapy and desired outcomes.
Patient can be admitted to the center from home, a hospital or other type of facility, provided they meet the following criteria:
• Require daily access to a rehabilitation physician, who will oversee his or her medical needs and therapy treatment plan.
• Require 24-hour-a-day rehabilitative nursing.
• Require at lest two forms of therapy.
• Be able to tolerate a relatively intense therapy program, consisting of at least three hours of therapy for five out of every seven days, or have the potential to build up to this level within 10 days.
• Have the ability to achieve rehabilitation goals in a reasonable period of time.
Complimentary pre-admission screening is conducted within four hours of each referral to determine if the patient’s specific condition may benefit from the rehabilitation program.
