Since 1985, TMK Automotive has been serving the East Valley while following the business philosophy, "We know that our customers have many choices for their automotive needs." Owner and ASE-Certified Master Technician Tim Waters said he has been working on cars since he "was old enough to stand over the top of an open hood." Tim graduated from Marcos de Niza High School in Tempe, where he was named Top Student Mechanic in 1981. Soon, he found himself repairing and servicing most of his family and friends' vehicles in his driveway, while also working for Mark Salem at Ahwatukee Mobil. Tim and his wife, Michele, decided to move the business out of the driveway and with Mark's help, they moved into their own Mobil service station at Dobson and Elliot Roads in Chandler. As the business grew, TMK Automotive employed two additional techs to operate the two-bay shop and soon the business outgrew the space. They moved to their new location on William Dillard Drive in 2004. After making the short move to Gilbert, they doubled their bay space and office area. While their new address is a little off the main road, Tim and Michele say they have added more services and their client list has grown substantially. While at their original location, TMK Automotive was named to Channel 3TV and KTAR "The Car Guy" Mark Salem's coveted "Best Car Repair Shops in Arizona" list. They've been on the list annually since 1998 and Tim has been a guest on Mark's Saturday morning radio show. In 2007 TMK Automotive was awarded the title of "ASE Blue Seal Shop of Excellence, " employing three ASE Master-Technicians to service your vehicles. Before any work is performed to repair or service a vehicle, customers are contacted with full estimates and advice. TMK Automotive strives to make sure that their customers understand that they are in control of their vehicle's repair, as stated by the company motto, "We advise. You decide!" Tim networks with many different automotive resources and has long-standing relationships with many other specialty shops in the East Valley. If a repair is outside of TMK Automotive's expertise, they'll connect their customers with the right specialized service center.
