These arms are plate-loaded and each exercise is "guided" for maximum safety and proper technique. The handles are also beneficial in that they adjust 360 degrees with three hand positions. Also, these handles move side to side for wider or more narrow stances. This versatility allows for hand grip positions that focus the weight at the center of the body reducing stress to the upper and lower back.
