The rows of pins surrounding the deadbolt “hole” are retractable on impact. As a result, the retractable pins allow the Sure-Strike strike area to accommodate your off-center deadbolts. In essence, the Sure-Strike strike area moves to wherever your deadbolt requires - whether the deadbolt is striking to the right of the hole, to the left, above the hole, or below. That’s why it’s the strike plate that makes deadbolts dead-on. The patented adjustable pin function and larger opening of the Sure-Strike allows your deadbolt to enter the Sure-Strike when door frame shifting or door swelling occurs, correcting for up-and-down or side-to-side misalignment. This unique design doesn’t just make your doors easier to lock. It makes them more secure as well. Unless your deadbolt shaft can travel to its full extension—which can be impossible if the door has shifted—your door may not even be fully locked. When that’s the case, a thief could easily insert a screwdriver and move your deadbolt shaft back and enter your home.
