Our vision of providing the average gardener access to these plants, along with books, fertilizers and accurate information for their care and growth, has been fulfilled. Stokes has grown by broadening our customer base through targeted advertising and education of the general public about tropical plants and their values and uses. Our first website went live in January 1996, allowing us to offer our tropical plants and products to customers throughout the country and beyond. We were the first tropical plant purveyor on the Internet, and we've continued to grow and update our website to serve our growing customer base. Our most recent site went live in March 2008. Based in Jeanerette, La., we attribute our market leadership in exotic tropical plants to superior service and dedication to the principle of delivering the very best product at the best prices. We have experienced exponential growth in tropical plant and related product sales in a competitive industry. And we've positioned ourselves to play a defining role in the future of the rare & exotic plant industry. Since tropical plants cover a wide variety of species, it is necessary for us to choose a few groups in which to specialize. There are bananas, gingers, heliconias, plumerias and some smaller groups. We test grow all plants we sell, so we know how to grow them and are well versed in their care and development. Stokes understands soil, shade, water, PH and fertilizer requirements, and we also know the cold hardiness of all our tropical plants.
