Each year since 1977, Spoleto Festival USA has gathered renowned artists as well as emerging performers in dance, music, opera, and theater for a 17-day artistic celebration in the beloved Southern city of Charleston, South Carolina. It is internationally recognized as America's premier performing arts festival. More than 150 ticketed events fill Charleston's historic theaters, churches, and outdoor spaces—from the historic Dock Street Theatre to the picturesque College of Charleston Cistern Yard—contributing to the rich cultural fabric of the city. Spoleto Festival USA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The 2020 season will take place May 22 - June 7 in Charleston, South Carolina.Charleston blooms with the sounds of world-class entertainment every spring for 17 days across the city. The schedule attracts a wide range of performing-arts talent including dance, opera, classical music and jazz acts. Shows take place throughout the city in a series of unique venues such as outdoor gardens, historic churches and local theatres. Founded by a renowned composer in 1977, the festival was inspired by a similar arts celebration in Spoleto, Italy.
