Founded in 1937, Southwest Arkansas Electric Cooperative (REA) is a nonprofit corporation that provides a range of electric services for residential and commercial applications. It serves the residents of Miller, Howard, Sevier, Columbia, Lafayette and Hempstead counties in southwest Arkansas. The cooperative additionally offers services to the citizens of Bowie and Cass counties in Texas and McCurtain County in Oklahoma. It maintains more than 4,800 miles of distribution and transmission lines, as well as operates over 20 substations and services nearly 25,000 meters. The cooperative provides a variety of electric products, including heat pumps, water heaters, security lights and power surges. It offers meter reading, outage reporting, and online billing and payment services. The cooperative also provides tips related to energy saving and conservation. Southwest Arkansas Electric Cooperative (REA) publishes several informational books, pamphlets and brochures for its member.
