In the 1990s, executives at Central States and General Safety saw a changing business environment, where technology improvements had the potential to significantly increase the efficiency and performance of fire-fighting vehicles. At the same time, Rosenbauer International was looking to the United States for partners to further fuel its global growth. Together, the three companies formed Rosenbauer America, an enterprise with a combined history of more than 200 years in the fire apparatus field. Rosenbauer s technology, design manufacturing and financial resources give it strength, with a basis in the U.S. for exporting U.S. design apparatus. In 2005, Rosenbauer toured the North American continent with three Rosenbauer trucks equipped with industry innovations to more than fifty North American cities over a seven-month period. It was a way of promoting Rosenbauer America s products. The company is headquartered in Lyons, S.D.
