Richard Connell is a Licensed Acupuncturist who uses acupuncture to successfully treat a wide range of health disorders, acute and chronic pain being the most prominent. Richard’s success with acupuncture can be attributed to several factors. His training, research and experience includes tens of thousands of hours of specialized acupuncture and related techniques proven to eliminate pain. He also takes extra steps to ensure that the acupuncture treatment itself doesn’t contribute to any pain a patient may be experiencing. Richard Connell uses extremely thin acupuncture needles, even by acupuncture standards, making his acupuncture treatments virtually painless. In many instances, pain relief and increased range of motion are immediate. Many patients report a euphoric sensation during his acupuncture treatments. “It seems that people find me after they have tried almost everything else. Nothing has helped or worked as well as they hoped or they didn’t like the answers they received from other healthcare providers. Maybe they didn’t like the drugs or painkillers they were prescribed. Connell earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maine in Orono. After 13 years in New Mexico and practicing as a licensed primary care physician and Doctor of Oriental Medicine he and his wife Megan, also talented Massage Therapist, returned back east to Bath, Maine to be closer to family and friends. Richard’s parents still live in Bath. Richard is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of Maine. He is nationally board certified (NCCAOM Diplomat status) in Oriental Medicine. He has many years of experience successfully treating many common and complex health issues with Acupuncture and related techniques. Prior to practicing acupuncture, Richard Connell practiced Eastern Medical Massage and Asian Bodywork. Richard graduated from East-West Healing Arts Institute in Madison, WI with a specialty in Asian Bodywork and Eastern Medical Massage. He also attended The Wat Po Traditional Medical School in Bangkok, Thailand, where he earned his Certification in Traditional Thai Massage. He also earned a yoga instructors certificate after intensive study in Rishikesh, India. He received his graduate Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine training and medical degree at Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, NM, where he subsequently was an Associate Professor, teaching specialized and advanced acupuncture and manual therapy techniques.
