The company was formed in 1979 by Roy E Obermiller, P.E., originally in Paola, Kansas. The company moved to Harrisonville in 1984. From 1984 to 1993 it specialized in city engineering, acting as City Engineer, Codes Administrator, or Building Official for 10 different Missouri and Kansas cities. In 1993, the company spun off its geotechnical and inspection service to a separate company, Obermiller Construction Services, Inc The two companies are 100% family owned and office in the same family owned location. Mr. Obermiller is the founder and president of REO Engineering, and vice president of Obermiller Construction Services, Inc He is a 1971 graduate of University of Missouri, College of Civil Engineering, and holds professional licensure in the states of Missouri, Kansas, Colorado and Florida. He minored in Professional Management and attended graduate school with an emphasis in Environmental Engineering. Mr. Obermiller's work experience has concentrated in municipal and rural water and wastewater systems, hydrology, legal/administrative engineering, environmental engineering, structural analysis and residential/commercial development. Mr. Aaron Obermiller is a 2004 graduate of University of Missouri, College of Civil Engineering, and holds professional licensure in the state of Missouri. He attended graduate school with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering. Mr. Obermiller's work experience has concentrated in forensic engineering analysis, traffic systems, hydrology, structural design and residential development. Mrs. Obermiller is the co-founder and president of Obermiller Construction Services, Inc Obermiller Construction is a certified Women's Business Enterprise. Mrs. Obermiller attended the Kansas City Metropolitan Community College, Longview Campus, with an emphasis on marketing and psychology. Her work experience includes operating a modeling agency with national contracts, business manager for REO Engineering, currently supervising and providing marketing for Obermiller Construction, and operating an image consulting service. Mr. Barta acts as Construction Manager and Estimator for Obermiller Construction. Mr. Barta attended University of Missouri, College of Engineering with an emphasis in construction management. Prior to coming to Obermiller Construction, Mr. Barta worked for a major quarry operation. Mr. Jared Obermiller acts as Project Manager, Estimator and Technician for Obermiller Construction. Mr. Obermiller attended University of Kansas, College of Engineering with an emphasis in general civil engineering. Mr. Obermiller handles project management throughout the Midwest. Mr. Roy Cox was the grandfather of Roy Obermiller. Mr. Cox was an engineer of great achievement, participating in the design and construction of historic Bagnell Dam and the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, which, at its inception, was the largest man-made lake in the world. Following the 'Lake' project, Mr. Cox designed major bridges for the Missouri Department of Transportation, included the award winning tied arch bridge crossing the Missouri River at Jefferson City, Missouri.
