RECAP, also known as Regional Economic Community Action Program is a registered nonprofit, antipoverty, private organization that strives to help the residents of Orange County, N.Y., to meet their basic and fundamental needs. Located in Middletown, N.Y., it works in conjunction with federal, state, and public and private community agencies to combat poverty by mobilizing, coordinating and administering funds and services to local area residents. Established in 1965, the organization offers services to more than 4,500 individuals with housing, food, weatherization, early-childhood education, and a variety of counseling and family advocacy services. In addition, RECAP provides advocacy, case management, addiction-related, energy conservation, and employment and training services.
