Founded in 1982, Rainbow Days offers an array of alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention programs. It is a nonprofit organization that is funded by federal and state agencies, corporations and individual donors. The organization provides a multicultural preventive intervention program for at-risk children and youths. Rainbow Days also trains teachers and counselors to facilitate life skills support groups. It serves more than 5,000 children and youths and over 300 parents at nearly 65 community-based sites, including local elementary schools, homeless shelters, transitional living centers and domestic violence centers in Dallas. The organization s family connection program offers comprehensive support for homeless children living in emergency shelters. Located in Dallas, Rainbow Days additionally publishes a monthly newsletter that features information on community events.
