Precision Chiropractic is one of the few facilities of its kind in the country (there are about 400) and the only one in the Durham area that specializes and focuses on precise structural correction of the spine. While no one is structurally perfect, there is a normal range. Just like normal body temperature or normal blood pressure, there are established norms for the structure and function of your spine. When there is a structural shift in the spine, or if it isn’t moving or functioning correctly (the technical term is “subluxation”), that will eventually lead to what we call Secondary Conditions—commonly called “symptoms.” With a very straightforward exam, we can identify any objective indicators of these primary problems and correct them. And when we correct the underlying cause, we correct the symptoms, as well. Dr. David Martin has been in private practice since 2000 when he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, the first and best known chiropractic school in the world. In January 2015, he moved to Durham to live near family and purchased a clinic that’s been in Durham for years (formerly called Holistic Chiropractic). We changed the name to Precision Chiropractic reflect our new focus on precise, corrective care. Dr. Martin was trained in the Gonstead technique, a highly specific method of chiropractic. Over his 15 years in practice, he has learned that people respond differently to different types of chiropractic adjustments, and has incorporated other techniques. But he still relies on Gonstead most because he likes its specific, corrective approach. Dr. Martin is also certified in the Webster Technique for adjusting pregnant women. Chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy reduce stress and pressure on the spine, and it’s one of the most satisfying things to help a woman have a healthier, more comfortable pregnancy and easier delivery.
