In 2003, nine of the 16 Team Polk cars displayed at NOPI Nationals earned trophies. Of the seven competition-eligible vehicles in Polk Audio's booth, four were awarded trophies for show car excellence. In 1972, Matthew Polk and his friend, George Klopfer, both graduates of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and fans of music and high-end audio gadgetry, set out to build loudspeakers by applying scientific design principles to speaker construction.
