Pegasus Frame Studio & Gallery Winston Churchill wrote that "We shape our dwelling, and afterwards our dwellings shape us. " How many times have you walked into someone's home and felt that you immediately knew the people who lived in that house? The things we display tell who we are, where we have been, and what we love. The owner and staff of Pegasus Frame Studio and Gallery know how much your treasured family artwork, photos and mementos mean to you. Bill Shumway and his daughter Paige have over forty years of experience in creative and elegant framing to bring all your personal treasures to life. Maybe you have paintings dulled by time and household pollutants, which are beloved nevertheless. Let Pegasus restore those works of art and bring out the hidden detail and color with cleaning or the right mattes and framing. Those treasured childhood drawings, fine art works or awards and diplomas earned by hard work over the years, can be archivally framed and protected for future generations. Pegasus also advises and prepares artists and their art work for exhibits at Pegasus and elsewhere. There are new exhibits by regional, national and international artists at the gallery on a monthly basis. Most of the artist receptions are at 6: 30 to 8: 30 pm on the second Thursday of each month. Check the web site for any alterations in that schedule. Annual exhibits include: New works by W.E. Shumway, ( gallery owner ) month of February ; Annual Russian Artists Exhibit, month of August ; The Movable Feast of Art, Holiday Exhibit, months of November and December ( includes art work from each of the Pegasus stable of artists. ) The receptions are always well attended because Pegasus is known for great food, good company and outrageous art in the creative community of Corvallis, Oregon, where there are more artists per square mile than anywhere else in the country! We are just past the Post Office on 2nd St. on the left, at the Old World Center, Corvallis' first mini mall ( see map. ) The Old World Center includes a toy store, The Toy Factory, The Oregon Trail Ale micro brewery, a hydroponic advertising magazine, The Growing Edge, and of course The Old World Deli, an eatery and performance place beyond description. The building was remodeled in the late sixties by performance artists and friends to resemble a Bavarian beer garden courtyard, with a stage, so that musicians and artists could have a place to share their gifts with the community. That philosophy continues to evolve here: Open Mike Nite for musicians and poets, Wednesday Night Belly Dancing Performances, and musicians, artists and community interest events are scheduled here weekly. The Deli is renowned for its attentiveness to feeding the community aesthetically and spiritually and, of course, with its wonderful foods and spirits.
