John Maben, President & Founder, Pegasus Coin and Jewelry entered the coin business full time in 1978. Now in his fourth decade as a Professional Numismatist, his past experience includes eight years at NGC as Executive Vice President and a Grading Finalizer. John was also a part-time grader at PCGS in the late 1980's. The number of coins that he has bought, sold, and professionally graded places his experience level in a very elite group, far less than one percent of all Professional Numismatists. A true visionary, John wrote the business plans and was largely responsible for creating Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS) and Comics Guaranty (CGC), though he is no longer a shareholder. More recently, he was the owner and CEO of ModernCoinMart from inception until selling the company in 2015. John is a Life Member of ANA, FUN, CSNS and Pegasus is an Official NGC, PCGS, and ICTA member. John is a member of the Professional Numismatists Guild since 1986, and formerly held a seat on the board of directors for that organization.
