General Info:

I believe children learn best through hands on experiences, and strive to provide them with many opportunities to grow and learn during their time with me. To that end I offer 2 rooms dedicated to children's needs and play experiences, a large outdoor play area with swings, slides, sand, riding toys, and garden areas, plus field trips to the zoo, library, museums, parks and other age appropriate venues. My yard is a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat where we observe a variety of critters, from insects to great blue herons. The children help me to recycle and compost, and to grow veggies to snack on. We have fun learning and playing together! I am a certified teacher, licensed with the State of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, CPR/First Aid certified, and attend at least 30 hours of training annually. My facility participates in the USDA child care food program.In 2006 I was honored with the first "Family Child Care Provider of the Year" award for Tarrant County by Camp Fire USA and the Fort Worth Area Association for the Education of Young Children. I am very involved in many Early Childhood Professional organizations including: The Arlington Child Care Council, The Arlington Alliance of Early Childhood Professionals (Co-Founder) and The Arlington Area Childcare Provider Support Group (Co-Founder) I also served in various board positions for The Arlington Professional Home Child Care Association for several years. Child Care Licensing has often used my home as an in-service training facility for child care licensing representatives, and I have presented training to other early care educators several times a year through the organizations listed above.
