General Info:

Established in 1958, the NASA grew out of the National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics. NASA conducts its work in four principle organizations, called mission directorates. The first, aeronautics, is focused on pioneering and proving new flight technologies that improve its exploration abilities and develop practical applications of that technology on Earth. The second, exploration systems, is involved in creating new capabilities for affordable, sustainable human and robotic exploration of space. The third, science, is exploring the Earth, moon, Mars and beyond to further the development of space travel. The fourth, space operations, provides critical- enabling technologies for much of the rest of NASA through the space shuttle, the international space station and flight support. The NASA is headquartered in Washington, D. C.
