General Info:

Lord Leebrick Theatre Company entertains audiences with bold, thought-provoking theatre performed in an intimate space. We believe in the power of theatre to transform the lives of artists, students, audiences and our community. In the past 18 years, Lord Leebrick has established a reputation for high artistic quality and a commitment to presenting challenging and diverse scripts. Randy Lord and Chris Leebrick set out to create a daring professional theatre engaging the cultural diversity of Lane County when they founded Lord Leebrick Theatre Company in 1992. The company performed in a variety of downtown storefront locations in its first two years. Then, in 1994, the fledgling company secured a lease of a vacant building at 540 Charnelton Street. Overnight, a resident performance space was crafted out of a 70 year old building that originally housed a small dairy operation. Twelve years of work by diligent staff, board, and community volunteers has enabled gradual upgrades to our recycled theatre, including: new bathrooms, new lobby and box office space, an enhanced stage floor, new seating, new heating and air conditioning, improved electrical service, a lighting grid, and enhanced lighting and sound equipment. These improvements enhance the professional quality of this home-grown intimate theatre enabling us to maintain a level of artistic quality that prompted Eugene Weekly readers to vote Lord Leebrick the "Best Live Theatre" in Eugene for eight consecutive years ( 1996-2004: the category has since been retired because, according to the Weekly's staff, "it wasn't competitive" ). Randy and Chris shared leadership of the company in its first four seasons before doing consecutive solo stints for four more seasons. In 2000, Corey Pearlstein was selected from a nationwide search as the company's first non-founding Artistic Director. Corey's efforts further strengthened the company's artistic reputation, and garnered our first national media coverage in American Theatre magazine for a residency featuring Amiri Baraka. In 2005, Lord Leebrick received its first grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Also in that year, Lord Leebrick was accepted as a member theatre of the Theatre Communications Group. TCG is the nationally recognized organization of American theatres. We are the only Oregon theatre outside of Portland and Ashland to gain membership in TCG. This achievement speaks to the artistic quality and commitment to invigorating theatre that has continued to be the hallmark of Lord Leebrick Theatre Company. In 2007 the Eugene Weekly readers voted Lord Leebrick as the Best Performing Arts Group. "The Leebrick might only be in its 16th season, but it has transformed theater in Eugene. We retired the "Best Live Theater" category a few years back because the Leebrick won eight years in a row - there wasn't really any competition, according to our readers - but just as soon as we cracked open the performing arts door this year, votes for the Leebrick started pouring in and didn't stop until the last second of balloting." Craig Willis, our current Artistic Director, was recruited to take over from Corey in 2003. Craig brings extensive experience as a director, actor, teacher, and business manager to the company. Willis' leadership has generated significant increases in attendance and has instilled a stronger commitment to professional production standards. Willis' challenging programming selections prompted the Eugene Register Guard to remark, "we're lucky to have such a theatre here!" In recent years the education program has grown, providing extensive theatre education for youth and adults. Mary Wetherbee, our longest serving staff member, is our Box Office Manager and Volunteer Coordinator. Amy Dunn ( Technical Director ) and Gretchen Drew ( Production Manager & Master Electrician ) provide excellent technical support for our productions. David Mort joined the company in 2009 as Managing Director, and brings extensive
