OF LEONARD ENGINEERING, LLC Leonard Engineering began in 1987 as a sole proprietorship and was started as a close-knit family business. Having worked over ten years in the industry with larger firms, we were able to begin to develop business by going into the community, identifying clients with project needs, and drawing from that depth of experience to meet those needs. As a small firm, however, success depended upon rapidly gaining a thorough understanding of the industry, determining the most creative but practical solutions, and providing expert design development with sharp presentation documentation and timely delivery. We accomplished this and over time were able to develop a client base with a high level of satisfaction, causing us to have both repeat business from these established clients as well as new business from their referrals. Our firm weathered the difficult economic storms of the time and emerged as a strong, resourceful alternative on which our clients can depend when needing assistance for a variety of projects. Our firm has continued to grow and as a result, we reorganized as a Limited Liability Company ( LLC ) in 1999 to accommodate the anticipated future growth of the firm both in internal resources and project size. Leonard Engineering now continues to provide both Mechanical and Electrical services, which cover the major portion of professional engineering needs on most new construction and retrofit projects. In addition we maintain professional relationships with other firms so as to provide, on a sub-consultant basis, a complete package of services as required, including Architectural, Civil, and Structural. All of our professionals create their work in the computer environment. Engineers and designers make initial design sketches and mark-ups in the computer, which ensures that the original design thought is transmitted directly to the final product. This avoids the uncertain and sometimes unsuccessful traditional translation from manual hand sketches to the final work. The same is true with our project communications, design calculations, and technical specification development. The Principals of Leonard Engineering remain in critical charge of all aspects of the project and maintain the best possible level of quality control. This provides an environment where all of the innovative talent a client expects is directly focused on the challenges of the project. This eliminates the possibility of a design decision which solicits the attitude of "let's do what we did on the last job, " unless of course it actually happens to be the best solution.
