General Info:

But we're more than just a grocery store. We're a co-op, and we're owned by more than 1, 800 of your friends and neighbors. Our owners have invested in this store and participate in its governance. And when we become profitable and have paid back our loans, they will receive a portion of those profits through patronage rebates. Because of this, our profits stay in the local economy. Just Food defines its success by a triple bottom line: social, environmental, and economic sustainability. This commitment to doing business justly is reflected in our name-Just Food. So whether you'd like to buy fair trade, want to support your local farmers, or just like the delicious soup in our deli, you're voting with your dollar for a better world just by shopping here. Read our product policy in its entirety here What you will find are quality choices. We carry many products that are organic, local or gluten free. For those looking to get more whole grains in their diet, we've got breads and pastas made from a wide variety of grains. We carry milk, yogurt and cheese from cows, goats, sheep and soybeans. You can even find a healthier version of your favorite comfort foods, like chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, frozen pizza and nacho-flavored tortilla chips. And if you can't find what you are looking for, our friendly and knowledgeable staff members are always happy to help. Ever since we opened our doors in 2004, we have supported and promoted local farmers and producers. Between 20-25% of the product we purchase (in dollars) is locally produced food. To make it easier for our customers to buy local, we put a local shelf tag on all products from the five state area. And all of our produce has a country or state of origin label on its tag, so you know where your food is coming from. Each year, we invite our customers to Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Day, where you have the opportunity to meet local CSA farmers and purchase a share in their harvest. We also host an Eat Local Challenge for a month each fall, challenging our customers to eat 80% of their food from the 5-state area for four weeks. These fun events remind us to pay attention to where our food is coming from and build our local foodshed by eating locally when possible. Part of our mission is to provide education on healthy choices and sustainable living. We hold free or low-cost classes regularly on a variety of topics. Information on upcoming classes can be found by the front door or on our website. The ComPost, our bimonthly newsletter, is another wonderful source of information on food, health and community. Filled with recipes, farmer profiles, wellness information and contributions from community members, The ComPost is mailed directly to our owners and is available free for customers to pick up in the store. To request a donation for your organization, please talk with your cashier or download the donation request form. No! Whether you are a member-owner or not, you can expect the same exceptional customer service, quality products and enjoyable shopping experience at Just Food.
