For fifty-three years it has been Jewel Wire's mission to satisfy their customers with both quality and service at competitive prices. Founded in Belleville, New Jersey in 1948 by John Mustica, the company's first two customers were Weiler Brush Company and Osborn Manufacturing Company. In the early 1960's the company was purchased by John Giannuzzi and for the next 25 years the business grew and prospered. The list of customers grew to include most of the smaller manufacturers of wire brushes, as well as the larger brush manufacturers of the U.S. and Canada. The product line grew to include stainless steel wire. In December of 1986 Jewel Wire was sold to National Standard Company. When it was moved to a larger facility in Mt. Joy, Pennsylvania, Sam Dixon became the General Manger. Sam had worked for 24 years in the brush and speciality wire industry for National Standard. As part of the relocation, all of the employees were given the opportunity to relocate with the company. The importance of retaining valuable employees is evident in Sam's statement "Employees are the key to the success of the company. They are the thinking part of the manufacturing process." On August 16, 1991 Jewel Wire was sold to Loos & Sons Incorporated, based in Pomfret, CT. Loos Company Inc started much like Jewel Wire in a garage in 1958 by August W. Loos and his wife, Joan. That business has grown to now include a Stainless Steel Wire Division, a Cable and Wire Rope Division, a Cable Technology Division and a Fiberoptic Division all located in Pomfret, Connecticut. A Cableware Technology Division is also located in Naples, Florida. The Loos family believes the acquisition of Jewel Wire was a natural, to go along with the Stainless Steel operation in Pomfret, Connecticut. By January of 1993 Jewel Wire had relocated to Pomfret, near the main Loos & Co. factory. Once again, all of the employees were offered the chance to relocate to Connecticut. Loos & Sons Inc also recognized the importance of retaining valuable employees. Over the years Jewel Wire has kept its reputation of providing quality and service to its customers. The product line has expanded to now include High Fatigue Quality Stainless Steel, Brass, Bronze, Nickel Silver, both High and Low Carbon Steel, Monel and Inconnel. Drawing wire as fine as.003" (.0762 mm ), they can deliver most wire either crimped or straight ( Level ), in coils, cut to length, in hanks, or multi-stranded. Used in everything from minature twisted in-wire brushes to the heavy-duty industrial power brush, the wire is supplied to every major brush manufacturer in North America. However, Jewel Wire's current customer base is not limited to the confines of North American Shores. Jewel Wire also supplies wire to the International Markets, including The United Kingdom, Mexico, Germany, South Africa and Korea. With the completion in September 2000 of our recent expansion, Jewel Wire has acquired an additional 13, 000 square feet of space which will be used for manufacturing and stocking of products for distribution. We continue to add specialized wire drawing and crimping equipment to meet the needs of all of our customers.
