General Info:

The Jackson Fire Department provides fire suppression and rescue services to the city of Jackson, Miss. The department offers mitigation of and recovery from a variety of conditions that adversely threaten the safety of the public. The department is comprised of a staff of volunteers. Its primary operations consist of confining and extinguishing various types of fires. As an extension of the department s rescue services, it also provides pre-hospital, emergency medical care. In addition, it performs on-site safety inspections of buildings to ensure structures meet safety codes and participates in campaigns for community awareness regarding fire safety. The Jackson Fire Department consists of several divisions, including administration and finance, arson and internal affairs, community relations and education, emergency services, training, safety, research and development, office of the fire marshal and fire loss. Throughout the divisions, the department has more than 420 budgeted positions.
