Hi, I m Tony Hoyt, owner operator of Hummingbird Toys & Treats. I began my retail career managing a very successful toy store for twelve years in Missoula, Montana. In 1988 I was tired of working for other people, and wanted to try my own business in my home town of Arlee, Montana. Boy, did people laugh at me: "What, are you going to open a store in little Arlee, on the reservation? You will be out of business in a year." So I took it as a challenge. I knew I had to cover a lot of bases, i.e. candy, toys, CDs, jewelry, and hummingbird items to go along with the store name and brand. And I made it! It was only about 5 years ago that I started getting into licorice, when Kookaburra started exporting to the U.S. It was an immediate success! People just adored it and mentioned how much they loved licorice.
