During the late 1950s, a manufacturer of electronic components developed a series of conformal coatings designed to improve the life span and reliability of its products. These coatings were branded as HumiSeal to describe their ability to protect printed circuit board assemblies and electronic components against environmental stress and damage caused by humidity. HumiSeal eventually became a division of the Chase Corporation. It offers products for consumer, marine, aerospace, military and automotive applications. The company manufactures more than 60 coatings, thinners, strippers and masking materials and can offer custom formulations to meet unusual specifications. HumiSeal has a location in Long Island City, N.Y.
