History of the CompanyOur company was formed in January, 1972, with three Agents in a small office on Rouse Drive in Virginia Beach. Just a short three months later, we moved into larger quarters at 5633 Princess Anne Road. By the end of the company's first year in business, we had an Insurance Division, a Farm, Land Management and Consulting Department and the Commercial-Industrial-Investment Division.In January of 1975, William E. Wood and Associates joined a relocation network of leading independent real estate firms across the nation. This affiliation ultimately led to the development of a Relocation Department and our current affiliation with one of the country's largest relocation networks.Two new branch offices were opened in 1975 on Indian River Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard bringing the total number of agents to 30. In May of 1977, the entire Princess Anne Road staff left its space and moved into the newly constructed headquarters of Williamsburg design at 1120 Independence Boulevard. The Company opened a downtown Norfolk office in October of that same year.Since 1977, the Company has progressively expanded its market coverage with additional locations in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Newport News, Great Bridge, Churchland, Poquoson, Williamsburg, Smithfield, Franklin, Elizabeth City and Currituck. We currently have twenty locations, including the Farm House, which is our corporate headquarters and is housed on the site of the original Wood farm. In addition to progressive market penetration, the Company has also expanded the services offered to our Agents -- including training, new construction, property management, title and hazard insurance programs, mortgage loans, marketing and technological services.From the initial volume of some five and a one-half million dollars the first year, the firm now operates with a sales volume exceeding 1.47 billion dollars and has a sales force of over 600 full time Agents.Since its inception, William E. Wood and Associates has been dedicated to professional real estate service, and has prided itself on the skillful handling of all details of the transaction from listing to closing.
