Founded in 1976, Memorial Hermann Life Flight is a hospital-based air ambulance program that serves the clients throughout Houston. It operates as airborne trauma centers that are equipped with medical equipment and medicines. The program has completed more than 100,000 missions since its inception. Memorial Hermann Life Flight maintains a fleet of helicopters that covers over 3,000 missions every year. Its staff consists of nearly 13 pilots, approximately 14 flight nurses, more than 10 paramedics and mechanics. The program is licensed by the Texas Department of Health and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems. Memorial Hermann Life Flight is one of the emergency services offered by Memorial Hermann, which is a health care system. Memorial Hermann operates nearly 14 hospitals, including a trauma center, heart and vascular institutes, and children s and rehabilitation hospitals, as well as approximately five suburban health care centers.
