Pittsylvania County Community Action, also known as PCCA, is a multijurisdiction agency and human service provider. In operation for more than 25 years, the agency maintains a staff of over 90 people. It administers the Head Start program. The agency also offers the Workforce Investment program, which features occupational skills training, leadership development, adult mentoring and counseling solutions. It provides the Training, Assessment, Retention and Employment (TARE) program in partnership with the Pittsylvania County Department of Social Services, Danville Division of Human Services, and Danville Community College. In addition, the agency offers Project Discovery and Summer Food programs. Pittsylvania County Community Action provides veteran, senior citizen, housing and emergency solutions. It operates Virginia Cares, which assists ex-offenders to become productive citizens. The agency serves the residents of the counties of Pittsylvania and Henry and the cities of Martinsville and Danville in Virginia.
