Head Start of Northeastern Nevada is one of thousands of grantees spread across our great Nation, currently celebrating 51 years of service to our community. Head Start was created out of Lyndon Johnson's "War on Poverty" initiative. This came with the understanding that children would not be school ready if their basic needs were not first met. Children from birth to five years attend high quality classrooms with opportunities for rich learning and receive home cooked meals by our highly trained kitchen staff daily. Parents are assured that Head Start follows their child's milestone attainment including all health, dental and mental health markers. Adults are able to participate in training opportunities and engage in goal setting with advocates. Staff are highly dedicated to Head Start's mission and enhance their professional development yearly. Agency strengths include NAEYC Accreditation, CLASS Reliable Staff, fully compliant with both State and Federal regulations and a Newmont Legacy recipient.
