The Housing Authority of the City of Greenville serves more than 2,000 public housing residents and over 1,600 Section 8 participants in Greenville, N.C. Its Family Self-Sufficiency program provides rental assistance to improve the economic situation of families and reduce their dependence on public assistance and welfare. The authority s Housing Choice Voucher Homeownership Program offers eligible individuals and families the ability to expand their housing opportunities and use their assistance to purchase homes in the communities of their choice. Its Partnership for Progress is an after-school tutorial program that tutors students in grades one through three. The Housing Authority of the City of Greenville s cultural and recreation center develops and implements crime prevention intervention, business development and athletic programs.
