Operational since 1848, Abbey of Gethsemani is a place where Trappist monks live, pray and work. The monastery is a school of the Lord s service where monks offer individual prayers. Its people earn their living by making cheese, fruitcake and bourbon fudge. The monastery provides a variety of retreats, as well as conducts conferences and presentations on various topics related with spiritual and monastic life.
