Founded in 1937, the Georgia Department of Public Safety is responsible for the enforcement of traffic laws and safety rules. It oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgia State Patrol, Capitol Police and Motor Carrier Compliance divisions. The department additionally enforces traffic regulations and investigates accidents and crashes throughout the state of Georgia.
