About Frisco Wine Merchant is a specialty wine and spirits retailer in Frisco, Colorado. The staff tastes every wine before we purchase it. We only bring in the wines we like and think are a good value. The origin of the fruit is more important than the money behind the label. If the grower produced the best fruit possible, did the winery honor that and make a wine representational of that? Wine is made in ever country in the world, there are many, many options, and here at Frisco Wine Merchant we pride ourselves on finding the unknown winery, the unfamiliar region of origin, an obscure grape, or an up and coming winemaker, and sharing that knowledge with our customers. We have tastings all the time and the idea is to get people out of their comfort zone and experience something new. We pull a lot of cork and let people try things as well as have a policy that if for any reason the customer does not like the wine he or she purchases we will refund or replace, no questions asked. More than half of the inventory is $20 or less. Foodies is a specialty food store that carries the kinds of items that are difficult to find outside a large metropolitan area. We have about 60 different specialty cheeses from around the world including artisan American cheeses. We carry specialty meats like Procuitto de Parma, Speck, capicolla, mortadella, salamis, pates, and frozen grass fed beef and elk steaks. Olive oils from Spain, Italy and Greece as well as the U.S. stand by vinegars made with fruit infusion, aged in casks, or produced by familiar wineries in California and Washington. Well known brands like Stonewall Kitchen, Earth and Vine and Cafe LuLu from California sit next to traditional products imported from Spain, Italy and France. It is a one stop shopping experience for entertaining. We also have an ever-expanding inventory of Colorado made products and artisan chocolates. Foodies also serves wine by the glass, small plates, weekend BBQ, prepares gift baskets and arranges catered events through our network of local independent chef's and talented staff. Frisco Wine Merchant and Foodies opened in July 2005 by Susanne Johnston, a Colorado native and certified sommelier, in the heart of Summit County. After graduating from Merto State in Denver with a Hospitality and Marketing degree and moving to Telluride then Durango, Susanne moved to Napa Valley California and lived and breathed the wine industry for eight years. Working with wineries like Ch teau Montelena and Rudd Estate learning production and sales, then to Dean & Deluca selling wines in the dynamic wine shop in St Helena while continuing to work in the restaurant industry, here Catahoula under Chef Jan Burnbaum in Calistoga, Susanne developed a knowledge and passion that carries on today. Susanne started an importing company, Artisan Wine Group in 1998 and eventually brought 28 small California wine brands to Colorado and Wyoming. Moving back to Colorado in the fall of 2003, Susanne worked as an assistant sommelier at Del Frisco's restaurant in Denver before moving to Frisco in the spring of 2005. With 25 years of restaurant experience and more than 15 years of wine experience, the small business of Foodies and Frisco Wine Merchant is very sophisticated, creative in its offerings, and the owner and staff very knowledgeable and helpful.
