First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Cleveland, Tennessee, is a family of faith and fellowship of believers who teach, preach, and practice a medium Gospel that transforms lives and blesses people. First Cumberland is truly a place where people of a great variety of backgrounds can meet in the middle. People from a variety of church, religious, and social traditions call First Cumberland home. While some of us are life-long Cumberlands, many others of us have come into the fellowship from Methodist, Baptist, Church of God, Catholic, and other faith traditions. In worship you'll find us a happy medium between what's known as high church and low church. We are deeply reverent but not stuffy ; down to earth but focused on Christ in all that we do, say, and sing. We believe that the words we say in worship are important, and that's why as a rule we say what we believe by using the Apostles' Creed and the Lord's Prayer. Our worship music comes from a broad spectrum of sources. It isn't at all unusual for us to sing an old standard hymn, a more modern praise song, and to enjoy a fine piece of classical music all in the same worship service.
