General Info:

Eagle Foundation Co is one of the originators of slab Foundation Repair. in Houston, Texas. Installing Bell Piers beneath slabs was a relatively new technology in the 1960s, in fact there was no power source small enough to work beneath a foundation that could turn a drill bit or an auger twelve foot into the earth. Eagle was one of the first to convert a large chain saw to a drilling power source by removing the chain and installing a sproket receptor that received the head of the auger drive long before the use of the Little Beaver Drill that was mainly used for fence post holes until a larger hydraulic version of the original was made and used to drill pier holes. Foundation Repair is a skill that was vIrtually unknown in the 1950s and 1960s.the technology was usually passed down from Father to Son and the procedure was protected. Multiple crews were used to repair a foundation to prevent any worker from learning the entire procedure. One crew to excavate the tunnels to get beneath the edge of the foundation, drill the holes and pour the concrete. Another crew was used to level the foundation and a third crew was used for the cleanup. The use of multible crews was practiced for many years. The bell pier was the standard system used to support or level a slab /pier and beam foundation The friction piling method of repair changed the foundation repair Industry by reducing the cost of repairs. A hydraulic power source that uses the weight of the foundation slab or beam as leverage to push the pile segments deep into the earth engaging more friction the deeper they are pushed untill the friction exceeds the weight of the slab or beam and pile will go no deeper. This occurance is known in the Industry as refusal, and is dictated by the weight of the foundation and the resistance of the different layers of soil strata. The foundation repair industry has grown in the past fifty years, when Eagle Foundation went into business there were only four other Companies in Houston. Of the original five ony three remain . There are countless foundation repair companies in Houston today, most claiming to have been in business for many generations. Hire a Company with a history.
