Durango Hot Springs Resort & Spa is located in the Animas Valley just north of downtown Durango Colorado and 15 minutes south of Purgatory Ski Resort. The natural hot springs have a rich history dating back a millennium to the Ancient Puebloan that lived in this region. Beginning in the 18th century, the native Ute Tribe and other Native American tribes utilized the healing waters they considered sacred. Over the years, the hot springs has been the location for multiple grand hotels and later as a dude ranch, gambling hall, and entertainment center that hosted celebrities and Hollywood stars in the 1950s.
