Founded in 1802, DuPont Teijin Films bares the name of its founder who learned to manufacture black powder at the French government s gunpowder agency. Consequently, DuPont s first product was gunpowder, which remained its sole product until 1880. In 1910, the company produced a nitrocellulose-coated fabric called Farbrikoid, its first nonexplosive product.
