General Info:

Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas, also known as DSNWK, offers a range of educational programs for individuals with disabilities. Operational for more than 30 years, the organization serves clients in over 15 counties in northwest Kansas. Its programs focus on self-advocacy, sexual abuse prevention, and health and safety issues. Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas conducts various workshops and community education classes. The organization uses the premises of local business establishments, libraries and community service organizations. It offers classes in music, exercise, science, arts and crafts, photography and physical education.

<p>The College for Living is a unique day service program for adults with disabilities in northwest Kansas. We promote choice, independence and further learning by offering the opportunity to participate in structured classes in an adult setting. These classes are held both in-house and in the community. Community classes are taught by community members, not DSNWK employees. This fosters long lasting relationships between persons served and the community.<br /><br />All classes offered in the College for Living are driven and tailored to persons served wants and needs. Our goal is quite simple, provide individuals with the opportunities to enhance their current skills, as well as learn new skills, which will allow them to live as independently as possible.<br /><br />College for Living sites are located in the following northwest Kansas communities: Atwood, Hays, Hill City, Hoxie, Norton, Oakley and Russell.</p>
