Wait? There is a desert in the middle of the forest in Maine? Who knew?! Come spend some time outdoors exploring this one-of-a-kind natural phenomenon! You will learn about the unique geology and ecology of this place, in addition to the fascinating characters that have shaped its history over the last 200 years. We offer a self-guided (with audio options available), short hiking trails, an incredible natural playground, a gift shop, a small art gallery, and a barn that dates from the early 1800s. We also have a lovely campground which has been completely renovated! Unfortunately, the campground is closed in 2020 due to COVID-19. We will re-open in 2021 better than ever though!
