In 1984 Clarance Tausch passed away leaving the business to his wife Alma and their four children. The family continued the business for the next six years when they decided to expand their operation with a new quarry, Medina Crushed Stone (MCS ). Medina Crushed Stone is located on FM 1283 near Rio Medina, Texas. Shortly after starting this operation they expanded and opened an additional quarry in Hondo, Texas. MCS's Hondo plant is located North of Hondo on State Highway 173. In 1999 the Tausch children started Custom Crushed Stone, Inc This business started doing mobile crushing for local quarries. In 2000 they purchased an asphalt plant and started manufacturing commercial asphalt. The plant is located at MCS's FM 1283 plant. In 2001 the family decided to expand once again with the formation of Custom Readymix, Inc by acquiring an existing concrete plant to begin offering readymix to local contractors. Not wanting to waste resources the family started Custom Earth Products in 2003. This landscape product company produces topsoil, mulch and soil blends. In late 2003, Helotes Topsoil began crushing concrete hauled in from construction sites.
