our studio Culture Shock Performing Arts Center is pleased to be in it's 9th season providing quality dance instruction in Berks County. At Culture Shock we are a dance center that provides a wide variety of dance instruction in a welcoming stress free environment. About the Director Anita Doucette began her life long love of dance at the age of six. She studied many dance forms including Tap, Jazz, Clogging, Ballet, Acro, Modern and Polynesian. Anita studied under Betty Wagner Cummins, a prestigious dance instructor in the Southern California area for 15 years. In 1997 Anita moved to Pennsylvania where she began teaching tap and jazz at a small local dance studio and introduced the art of Polynesian dance. During this time Anita became the Director of the MaluLani dancers, forming her own Polynesian dance troupe. The MaluLani dancers perform for various functions throughout Eastern Pennsylvania. Anita's dancers have won many Platinum, Gold and Silver medals & trophies at competitions held in Pennsylvania & New Jersey for individual, group and production numbers. Anita is married with two children. Her husband Tony is the studio's master sound technician. He professionally cuts, mixes and customizes all the music used for studio functions, including all dance recitals and competitions. Anita's daughter, Trina, is a dance instructor at the studio and also assists her with the many tasks of running a large premier dance center. Anita's son, Anthony, was once actively involved with the Pahutane Tahitian drumming group until his diagnosis of cancer. Anthony fought this deadly disease for 4 years and touched many hearts during his valiant struggle. Our dear Anthony went home to be with the Lord on October 18th, 2004. Anita's father, George, is the Tahitian drumming instructor and her mother, Cheryl, is the office manager. Anita's family is very important to her and every student and parent is an extension of that big, happy family we call "Ohana"!
