Established in 962, The DuPage County Public Works Department is comprised of sewage collection, water treatment and distribution facilities and serves more than 117,000 residents. Its water division is responsible for iron filtration, reverse osmosis, nanofiltration and ion exchange softening. The department maintains a facilities management division that coordinates construction projects and provides long-term space planning for county-owned facilities and handles power plant and utility services. The DuPage County Public Works Department works with consultants regarding facilities, systems and equipment and provides janitorial services. It also has a cogeneration facility that provides reliable power to the wastewater treatment plant. The department is located in Wheaton, Ill.
