The Wisconsin Department of Corrections, also known as DOC, is responsible for the regulation and oversight of detention facilities. Established in 1990, the department is a part of the State of Wisconsin, which offers a range of administrative services. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections manages county jails, correction houses and juvenile detention centers. It maintains a legal counsel office that deals with issues related to departmental policies, procedures, rules and litigations. The department also has a victim services office that serves crime victims and their families. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections additionally manages budget, technology management, and finance and administrative services bureaus.
